Financial Literacy Centre

The Financial Literacy Centre implements through its work Finland’s financial literacy strategy, whose vision is for Finns’ financial literacy to be the best in the world by 2030. We aim to improve the financial knowledge of citizens of all ages and increase their interest in the economy. The Financial Literacy Centre explains, in a concrete way, the impacts of monetary policy to all citizens. The financial literacy material forming part of the Museum’s exhibitions will be instantly recognisable, as it will display a visual character named ‘Ruu’, who explores all corners of the Financial Literacy Centre. For young people, we offer games and budget workshops.

Financial literacy is a key civic skill that enables citizens to make short- and long-term decisions about their own finances and to participate in financial activities in society and the marketplace. Financial literacy is needed in all areas of our own finances: everyday spending, planning and financial preparedness, purchasing, borrowing, saving, investing/owning and insuring.
